EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE AGENCY OF TIC TIMOR I.P. RECEIVED AN AUDIENCE FROM DFAT (AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND TRADE)

Dili, 18 October 2023 - The Executive Director of the agency TIC TIMOR I.P., Mr. Venancio Pinto, S. KOM, accompanied by the senior advisor, Dr. Eusebio Guterres, and his executive advisor, Mrs. Cecilia da Fonseca, received an audience with representative of the Australian Embassy, Mr. Alex Kahn and its team.

In this audience, the representative of the Australian Embassy in Timor-Leste, First Secretary-Governance, Mr. Alex Kahn, congratulated the Executive Director, who has just started his duties at the agency of TIC TIMOR, and was very grateful for the strong cooperation and collaboration of work between TIC and its partner countries, including Australia.

The representative of the Australian Embassy said that the Australian Government is keen to know more about the achievements of TIC TIMOR's work up to now, so that they can provide support to the Government of Timor-Leste through TIC TIMOR. "The Australian government wants to know about the progress of TIC TIMOR's work so that Australia can provide support to the government's work through TIC TIMOR. The key priority of the Australian government is to support Timor-Leste’s necessities," said Mr. Alex Khan.

 

The First Secretary-Governance also clarifies further that the government of Timor-Leste has very well worked, especially TIC through public administration and electronic government, and their part is ready in terms of how the joint government between TIC TIMOR and the Australian Embassy is functioning.

 

The Australian Embassy itself came up with a draft, to be shared with TIC TIMOR and other ministerial partners, and will automatically receive support from the Ministry of Finance in Timor-Leste and other embassies in Australia, and they are also ready to provide cyber security advisory support for TIC TIMOR.

All their work programs receive maximum support from the Ministry of Transport and Communication (MTC), as they know that cyber security is the main program of TIC TIMOR; therefore, they want to work together. On the same occasion, Executive Director, TIC TIMOR I.P., Mr. Venancio Pinto S. Kom, explained that he had just started his duties at the agency of TIC, and that in the future he wants to establish better cooperation with the Australian government.

This top leader also highly appreciated the presence of the representative from the Australian embassy at TIC TIMOR, and in the future, they will continue to strengthen their cooperation. He requested that the Australian embassy in Timor-Leste continue providing support to TIC TIMOR in the human resources area for ICT, said the Executive Director.

 

At the same place, the senior advisor of TIC TIMOR I.P., Dr. Eusebio Guterres, informed the Australian embassy team that, currently, TIC TIMOR is continuing to carry on with the work processes, in political implementation, it’s important for the work progress and process in Timor-Leste.

 

TIC TIMOR itself is directly under MTC, and its priority program, such as digital Timor, has been approved, and it is currently analysing the cyber security strategic document. “At this moment, TIC TIMOR is more focused on the annual action plans of the digital Timor and electronic government, which focus more on education, health, and agriculture sectors," said this senior advisor to the Australian embassy team.

 

Meanwhile, the senior advisor also expressed his appreciation to former Executive Director, who, during his mandate, had done many things, and TIC will continue to ensure the excessiveness and strong implementation of government programs, especially in the IX government.

 

In this meeting, also participated the Lead PA Prosivu, Mr. Antonino Marques, and the DFAT program coordinator, Mr. Jose Marcal.
